About Us

Counterculture Cards is an independent game publisher based in Nevada City, California. Our mission: deliver high quality tabletop games with a sharp edge and some dark humor.  We released our first tabletop card game, YOU are the Maniac!

Inspired by popular slasher films: Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and modern classics like The Cabin in the Woods, YOU are the Maniac! is a horrifyingly fun card game to play with 2-4 twisted friends.

YOU are the Maniac! was made possible through crowdfunding pledges raised during the “Give Us a Hand” campaign on Kicskstater in Fall 2012. The project was successfully funded on November 13, 2012 with 666 backers pledging a total of $27,000. The funding allowed us to finish the game’s art, design, printing, packaging, and shipping to backers all around the world.
